Leadership
and Quality
Since
1991, when we first began operations, we have kept the leadership
in the exporting of fresh and frozen seafood from Costa Rica, setting
the standards for buying, processing and selling these products.
We embrace the needs of our customers and we work with our suppliers
in order to match quality and competitive prices.
The
planning of an adequate handling of our products is done from our
processing plant in San Jose. Here, the quality control team runs
daily tests on their laboratory in order to assure the products'
compliance with the quality standards of our customers.
Our
HACCP and European Community approved facilities are periodically
visited by inspectors of the USFDA and of the government of Costa
Rica. We constantly export to the United States and Europe, as well
as to the Caribbean Islands, South America and Canada.
Infrastructure
and Logistics
In
order to annually export over 10 million pounds of seafood, we employ
make use of an infrastructure that allows us the proper handling
of these perishable goods. Fish is caught by our own fishing boats,
as well as from approximately 400 independent boats with whom we
work closely with. Boats are unloaded in one of our four buying
stations along the Pacific coast. Each of these Ice, our main ally
in quality assurance, is produced on each of these stations.
The
products are daily transported to our processing plant, where they
are handled in temperature controlled rooms. Freezers and coolers
form part of the process line, depending on the presentation of
the product.
This products are daily exported daily from this plant, which is
20 minutes away from Juan Santamaria International Airport.
Innovation
Our
constant innovation revolves around our main products and the service
that we can provide to our customers. Thanks to the permanent communication
we keep with them, we have been able to include new presentations
and to develop new value added products. Additionally, we carry
out other processes that maximize the use of seafood and minimize
the impact to the environment such as the transformation of fish
residues into fish meal and fish oil.
This
same path of innovation has led us into manufacturing our own expandable
polystyrene (EPS) boxes. Furthermore, this project has taken a broader
course and we are currently working together with other industrial
segments to develop packing solutions according to their specific
needs.
